Executive Board
Being a member on the Executive Board is representative of your accomplishments and commitment to SAB. An Executive member on the board is the highest position you can obtain after being in the Director position for a year or longer. The Executive positions consist of the President, Vice President of Membership and Recruitment, Vice President of Communication, and the Vice President of Administration. Overall, this hard-working group of people will be responsible for the organization of SAB, big-picture ideas, and executing final decisions. Additionally, these people will spend countless hours making sure that the atmosphere in SAB and the Crimson Guard Student Section is fun, energized, positive, and safe.
Director
As a Director in SAB, you represent one of 16 board members on the Board of Directors. As a Director, you are in charge of a sport or event committee. On each committee, two Directors delegate tasks to a group of Chairs who all have different positions. Directors and Chairs then work together to plan, execute, and recap specific sporting events and other SAB events. Additionally, Directors spend a lot of time working with IU Athletics – specifically the marketing department. We work with the marketing department to share ideas, coordinate in-game promotions, promote sporting events across campus, and much more. If you secure a Director position, that means that you will be rewarded for your hard-work and commitment by receiving front row seats to every Men’s Basketball and Football game, an authentic SAB redcoat, invitations to exclusive events and meeting with teams, and many other events that will have a positive impact on your overall experience at IU.
Chair
Being a Chair within SAB helps you meet new people, make strong connections, and provides you with a more personal experience at sporting events. If you are chosen to be a chair, you are then placed on a sport committee or an event committee based on your preferences. Regardless of what committee you are on, there are plenty of ways to get hands-on experience with aspects of marketing, game-day operations, and public relations. Additionally, Chairs get the opportunity to plan SAB events, create new traditions in the Crimson Guard Student Section, and bring energy and positivity to all IU athletic events.
Crimson Guard Member
A Crimson Guard Member (CGM) is a student who has made contact with the Student Athletic Board at a sport, event, or call-out meeting. SAB is at every home game for every sport. In order to sign-in at sporting events, make sure to look out for someone wearing a neon vest. For every event that you sign-in at, you receive points (you cannot receive points at Men’s Basketball or Football because these are sports that you have to buy tickets for). Also, keep in mind, SAB points are different than Crimson Guard points on the Crimson Guard app. Once you reach 30 SAB points, you are eligible to apply for a Chair position near the end of the Spring semester. CGM can get involved with SAB in many different ways. This can include assistance in building our Homecoming float, mopping Branch McCracken court at Men’s Basketball games, and attending specific committee meetings to get an inside look at what we are all about.
