Indiana University Athletics
Career Development
The Excellence Academy builds on an Indiana University education to provide the skills and resources our students need to grow into confident young men and women prepared to face the world and start their careers. This preparation includes:
- A fulltime, in-house, career counselor
- Summer internship program and travel abroad experiences
- Student-athlete only networking nights
- Employer presentations with an emphasis on those who understand the special value that student-athletes bring to their careers
The Excellence Academy also sponsors “Career Combines” where our students fine tune their skills in resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and other career development skills.
Hoosier Network Event
• A private networking night meant to enhance student-athletes’ ability to speak to industry professionals relevant to their career goals and network with employers for shadowing, internship and full/part time job opportunities. This offers exclusive access to companies that specifically want to hire athletes.
Career Combine
• A 3-4 week training program that allows athletes to better understand their strengths and how they can utilize these strengths in their future careers. This includes major and or career investigation through self-assessment, specific major/career exploration and research, and the development of applicable skills in the job search area.
