FOOTBALL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will I need to wear a mask to attend games?
Yes. Per Indiana University guidelines, all individuals attending IU home football games need to have and wear a mask in and around Memorial Stadium.
How will you prioritize who gets tickets to IU Football games during the 2020 season?
Within the limitations dictated by reduced capacity guidelines, we want to allow current season ticket holders and IU students to attend as many games as possible. At this time, we do not anticipate selling single-game tickets.
What if I purchased season tickets and, due to reduced-capacity guidelines, am not able to get a full allotment of games and/or tickets?
IU’s Ticket Assurance Policy provides the security that if any IU Football games at Memorial Stadium are cancelled, postponed, or played with restricted fan access that prevents you from using your tickets, ticket holders who purchased tickets directly through the IU Athletic Ticket Office will have the following options:
- Donate your ticket payments to the IU Varsity Club as a tax-deductible gift supporting student-athlete scholarships.
- Apply ticket payments to the 2021 IU Football season.
- Receive a refund for ticket payments made.
What if I purchased IU Football tickets but feel uncomfortable attending football games at Memorial Stadium this fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
IU’s Ticket Assurance Policy would apply for individuals who purchased their tickets directly through the IU Ticket Office. You would be able to donate your ticket payments to the IU Varsity Club as a tax-deductible gift; apply your payments to the 2021 IU Football season; or receive a refund.
If I do not purchase season tickets in 2020, will I lose my consecutive years of season ticket purchase status?
No.
If I do not purchase season tickets in 2020, how will it impact my season ticket options in 2021?
It will have no impact; in preparation for the 2021 season, you will receive an application to purchase the same seats that you had in 2019.
Will I be able to tailgate before the game?
Additional information regarding tailgating will be forthcoming.

Safety at Memorial Stadium
IU Athletics is working hard to establish safety precautions and mitigation strategies in areas like seating arrangements, concessions, fan entries, cleaning protocols, and the use of personal protective equipment. Currently, we are working with our colleagues in the Big Ten Conference as well as other professionals in the sports and entertainment industry around the country to develop comprehensive plans in these, and other, areas. Additionally, the Department is working with the IU Athletics Medical Advisory Group on all of our plans, and that groups consists of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Andy Hipskind, team physician Dr. Larry Rink, and local infectious disease specialist Dr. Tom Hrisomalos. Dr. Rink is also serving on the Big Ten's Emerging Infectious Disease Committee, which will provide guidance to IU about hosting competitions and the safety of fans.
IU also has a robust structure for emergency management through the Emergency Operations Center and President McRobbie's Executive Policy Group. IU Athletics has been coordinating regularly with those professionals and with professionals in IU's Department of Environmental Health and Safety and will continue to do so leading up to any future events to ensure that IU Athletics has the best possible plan in place to create a positive fan experience and promote the health and safety of our fans.
