Indiana Volleyball History
Hoosier History
Indiana Volleyball began play in 1975 with the Big Ten and NCAA adopting the game as a varsity sport heading into the 1981 season. The Big Ten moved to a double round-robin schedule format ahead of the 1985 season, meaning each team played 18 games.
When Penn State joined the conference in 1991, each team began playing 20 games which remains the format to this day. The Big Ten expanded to 18 teams in 2024 while maintaining the traditional 20-game slate.
