Sean Mullen, armed with collegiate and professional pitching experience, was announced as Assistant Coach/Pitching & Catching on July 28th 2026. Mullen will aid pitching coach Matt Myers with the development of IU’s staff of arms. He will also work closely with the Hoosiers’ catchers to design a cohesive relationship on the mound.
Prior to Indiana
During his collegiate playing days, Mullen had one of the best individual seasons on the mound during the tenure of legendary UCLA skipper John Savage. In 2021, Mullen went 9-1 with a 3.39 ERA before being picked in the 11th round of the MLB Draft by Tampa Bay. He was also a draft pick out of high school by the Colorado Rockies. He made 34 appearances (14 starts) in his collegiate career.
He pitched two seasons in the Rays’ organization, making 30 appearances for High-A Bowling Green in 2022. Mullen also made a brief pit stop in Independent League baseball with the Lincoln Saltdogs in 2025. He transitioned into coaching as the Director of Pitcher Development for Omaha last season.
