Ben Gearhart joined the IU Sports Medicine staff as an assistant athletic trainer in the fall of 2018 working with the Hoosier cross country teams and track and field distance event group.
Gearhart is originally from Hope, Indiana and earned his bachelors of arts in Athletic Training from Franklin College in 2011. In 2013 he received a Master's of Education in Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Performance from Georgia College and State University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer working primarily with the men’s and women’s cross country and tennis programs. Following Georgia College, Gearhart served as an intern athletic trainer with The Ohio State University cross country and track and field programs. After OSU he served as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Montevallo where he was primarily responsible for the women's lacrosse, women's soccer and baseball teams while also serving on the Alabama Athlete Agents Commission.
Gearhart became a certified athletic trainer in June 2011 and has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 2009. He is certified in Graston Technique and SFDN1 Dry Needling.
Ben, his wife Annie, and their son Matthew reside in Bloomington, IN.
