Indiana head coach Kayla Bashore hired Sasha Elliott to the team’s coaching staff as an assistant coach in July 2024.
Elliott served as an assistant coach on the Indiana Field Hockey coaching staff for the 2024 season.
In her lone season in Bloomington, Elliott helped the program to a 9-9 record, a Big Ten Tournament appearance, a 4-4 conference mark and three ranked victories.
The Hoosiers defeated No. 12 Iowa on the road, 2-1 (2 OT) (Oct. 11), No. 18 California, 2-0 (Oct. 18) and No. 7 Michigan on the road (Oct. 27). Indiana’s Big Ten Tournament appearance was its first since 2021. The No. 7 Seed Hoosiers narrowly lost to No. 3 Seed Michigan, 2-1, in overtime, in the tournament’s opening round.
The three ranked wins were the most in a season since 2011 while the four Big Ten wins notched the program’s best Big Ten record since 2015 when the team went 5-3 in the conference.
Elliott worked closely with the team’s goalkeepers. She helped developed Sadie Canelli to a Big Ten All-Freshman Team season. Canelli earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and Big Ten Freshman of the Week as well as being named the NFHCA’s National Defensive Player of the Week throughout the season.
She played collegiately at VCU from 2018-2021 and at Louisville in 2022.
Both at Louisville and VCU, she was a dynamic force in the cage. In her lone season at Louisville, she compiled 100 saves with an ACC best .775 saves percentage and a 1.44 goals against average.
She had a season-high nine saves against No. 2 North Carolina (Sep. 16) and was named both ACC Defensive Player of the Week as well as NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week for the weeks of September 13 and October 18.
Her stellar play earned her All-ACC First Team honors while also being an ACC All-Academic Team athlete.
The Cardinals sported a 12-8 record in 2022 while reaching the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 6 Penn State in their opening game.
At VCU, she logged four seasons as the team’s starting goalkeeper and was tabbed a two-time NFHCA All-South Region selection. She helped lead the Rams to an Atlantic 10 title during the spring 2021 season. She was named the Atlantic 10 Championship’s Most Outstanding Player for that title run.
Upon winning the Atlantic 10 title, VCU fell to Bucknell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 2-1.
She finished her VCU career with a 1.08 goals against average, a 0.766 save percentage and 17 shutouts in 61 games.
Elliott is from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she attended Het Amsterdam Lyceum. She played for Pinoke MA1 U18 in the highest Dutch league.
Her team finished first in the league and won the national championship with the MA2 U18 team. She recorded the lowest goals against average at Pinoke among 72 goalies during the 2016-17 season.
