• John Powell is in his fifth season as director of student-athlete development with the Indiana football program.
• Served as the team’s chaplain in 2019.
• Worked as the campus pastor for Fellowship Bible Church South Campus in Jackson, Tennessee, prior to his arrival in Bloomington.
• Director of character development for the University of Mississippi football program for four seasons.
• The Rebels played in the Compass Bowl, Music City Bowl, Peach Bowl, and Sugar Bowl, and won three of its four bowl appearances.
• Spent 11 years as the football chaplain at Lambuth University and was a part of three Mid-South Conference championships.
• Over his career, Powell has had the opportunity to encourage, lead, teach, develop, and build relationships with hundreds of student-athletes, some of whom are currently playing in the NFL.
• Earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Lambuth University and received his master’s degree in theology from Liberty University.
• Author of Proven Player: The Instruction Manual to Building Character in Sports and Life.
• John and his wife, Holly, reside in Bloomington with their three children, Joanna, Ezra, and Jotham.
