Carl Miller was hired as an athletic performance coach for the Indiana football program on Jan. 9, 2024.
Miller spent the last four seasons at Wyoming (2020-23) and helped the Cowboys to three-straight winning seasons, three-straight Bowl appearances, and three victories over Colorado State in the Border War. A victory in the 2023 Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl accounted for the ninth win of the season, the program’s most since 1996 (10).
A trio of Cowboys were selected in the NFL Draft during his tenure in Laramie. Chad Muma was a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after he earned second-team All-America at linebacker in 2021. Seven total Cowboys earned first-team All-MWC in Miller’s four seasons.
His contributions to UW came in the development of a speed program and linemen training routine that aided the Cowboys on-field performance.
After one season as a in intern at Mercer (2013), Miller moved into a full-time role and spent the next five seasons (2014-18) working the football and nationally-ranked baseball programs.
Miller tutored the only football All-American in program history when Chandler Curtis was named third-team All-America by the Associated Press in 2014. Twelve Bears earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors and quarterback Kaelan Riley was named the 2017 So-Con Freshman of the Year.
The Bear baseball program won three So-Con titles and made a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. Kyle Lewis was a first-round selection in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft and won the Golden Spikes Award as the national player of the year as named by USA Baseball.
He began his career with one season each in the strength and conditioning programs at Eastern Michigan (2011) and Wayne State (2012).
During his career, Miller has utilized Polar GPS Tracking, Push Band Barbell Velocity Tracking, and Brower Timing Systems.
After he earned his associate degree in exercise science from Washtenaw Community College in 2010, Miller completed his bachelor’s degree in exercise science at Eastern Michigan in 2012.
Miller’s professional certificates include National Strength and Conditioning Association – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USA Weightlifting Level One Sports Performance Coach, Reflexive Performance Reset Level One, CPR/AED.
