Jake Thelen, a native of Edgewood, Kentucky, enters his second season with the Hoosiers as a Graduate Manager as he pursues a masters degree in sports management. Thelen comes to IU after playing at Bellarmine University in Louisville and earning a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2015.
At Bellarmine, Thelen played in 98 games and averaged 18.6 points and 10.7 rebounds as a senior, and was named consensus First Team All-American, First Team All-Defense, Elite 8 All-Tournament Team and conference player of the year.
He finished his career 16th in points scored (1412), 10th in blocked shots, first in field goals made in a season, second in rebounds in a season, and first in field goal percentage in career.
He was also a member of the 2014-15 Final Four team that finished 31-4 and won a regular season championship along with a Midwest Regional Championship.
A graduate of Covington Catholic High School, he was a Kentucky All-Star averaging 21.6 points as a senior. He is the son of Jon and Ashley Thelen. He is the oldest of five, Hannah (21) is a nursing student at Good Samaritan Hospital, Heidi (20) plays volleyball at Penn State, Grace (18) is a Senior at Notre Dame Academy, and brother Nick (16) is a Sophomore at Covington Catholic High School.
