The Indiana volleyball team announced the signing of 6-0 First Team All-American setter Emily Fitzner (San Diego, Calif.) for the class of 2019. She is the sister of men’s basketball traansfer Evan Fitzner. Fitzner, a native of San Diego, Calif., is an AVCA First Team Under Armour All-American and represents the first AVCA First Team Under Armour All-American in Indiana volleyball program history. Fitzner played high school volleyball at Torrey Pines, one of the most successful programs in the history of the CIF-San Diego Section. The program has earned 16 CIF Championships and appeared in three State CIF Finals. In 2017 the team ranked #5 in the final MaxPreps National Rankings. In her senior season, Fitzner helped the team to a 33-4 record. Going into the last week of her regular season with Torrey Pines, Fitzner had racked up 841 kills, 159 blocks, 1,263 assists, 404 digs and 133 aces and a .349 hitting percentage. Fitzner is a member of the USA Women’s Junior A1 National Training Team and a No. 88 Senior Ace on PrepVolleyball.Com. Fitzner comes from an athletic family. Her father Mark played basketball at Stanford and her mother, Cheri was a volleyball player at Hawaii. In addition to Evan, her brother Bryce played football at Kansas State.
