Megan Tomei was named Assistant Coach - Throws for the Indiana track and field program by Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Ed Beathea in July of 2023.

Indiana (2024-pres.)
In her first year with the Hoosiers, Tomei coached Sean Mockler to his second NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance in the Hammer Throw, his first since the 2022 season.

Mockler broke his own school record in the final meet of the regular season and earned a bronze medal at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in the event.

At the conclusion of the season, Mockler earned Second Team All-America honors in the hammer throw finishing 15^th nationally.

Youngstown State (2018-23)
The Northeast Ohio native spent six seasons as the throws coach for the Youngstown State men's and women's track and field programs before making the move to Bloomington.

While at Youngstown State, Tomei coached 26 Horizon League Champions in the throws including six in 2023. The Penguins won the conference’s javelin title on both the men’s and women’s side at all four conference meets contested under Tomei.

Back-to-back Horizon League discus champion Zach Gehm advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas where he finished 17th, narrowly missing out on All-American honors in 2023.

At the 2023 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Tomei's men's throwers combined for 77 points across four events while the women scored 51 as the Penguins swept the men's and women's team titles.

Tomei coached Dominic Perry to five Horizon League titles including a sweep of the shot put indoors and outdoors in 2023. She helped guide Youngstown State athletes to conference titles in both throws events indoors and all four throws events outdoors.

The program’s men’s and women’s discus records and men’s javelin records at Youngstown State have all fallen under the guidance of Tomei. She sent four athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary meet in both 2022 and 2023.

Tomei competed collegiately at Ashland where she was a 15-time All-American and eight-time DII national qualifier while competing in the shot put, weight throw and hammer throw.
