Her 1980 Southport High team won the State Championship and Amy was the recipient of the IHSAA Mental Health Attitude Award. Shw was chosen to several All-State and All-American teams and was honored with both the Marion County Coaches' and the Indianapolis Star-News' Athlete-of-the-year awards. A very welcome surprise for the Hoosiers... A walk-on competing for the first time at IU... Solid basketball background... Member of the 1980 Southport High team which won the State championship... Received the Indiana High School Athletic Association Mental Attitude Award... Competed in AAU ball last winter achieving All-American status... A fine ball handler with good speed and desire... an intelligent floor general... Can drive to the basket or hit the open outside shot... Should be fighting for a starting spot at the point... Also an accomplished cellist.
