Freshman Year (2002-03)- Drained the game-winning shot with 40 seconds remaining in overtime against Illinois in Bloomington on March 2...That shot was not only Williams' only field goal of the game, but it was her first field goal in a span of 21 games...She did miss eight of those 21 games with a partial tear of her MCL sustained in practice on January 15...Had a breakthrough performance against Florida State, scoring eight points, recording two steals and dishing out an assist in a career-high 20 minutes of action... Was one of the keys to the Hoosiers' rally in that contest.. Saw 18 minutes of action against Purdue at Mackey Arena.
Prep-Attended Covington HS in Covington, Tenn., where she played for coach Sharman Coley... Averaged 20 points and nine rebounds during her senior season...Ranked among the top 35 shooting guards in the nation, according to the All-Star Girls Report... Earned district and region most valuable player honors and was an honorable mention All-State selection. .. Williams was an All-Metro team selection by the Memphis Commercial Appeal and was nominated as the player of the year after leading Covington to a 24-6 record and a Region 7 championship. Covington was a Tennessee Class A State Tournament partici-pant...Scored 1,800 career points, grabbed 414 rebounds and had 180 steals to go with her 91 assists... Also considered Virginia, Kentucky and Memphis.
