Bio
JUNIOR YEAR (1984-85)
A strong and aggressive Cindy Herr has seen limited playing time since transferring from Elgin Community College after her freshman season, but she has been counted on off the bench when IU opponents have closed up inside. She played in 25 games last season averaging five minutes and 1.9 points. Herr accumulated career and season scoring highs of seven points in 1985 against Northwestern and Purdue. The Wildcat game was a three-for-four performance from the field and the Boilermaker contest a three-for-six. Former Indiana Coach Maryalyce Jeremiah credited Herr with having the best jump shot on the team
SOPHOMORE YEAR (1983-84)
With the adjustment from junior college to Division I ball behind her, Cindy Herr just needs a little playing time to unleash her ability as a scorer. Wielding a pure jump shot reminiscent of that belonging to the graduated Rachelle Bostic, Cindy came to Indiana last year as a sophomore from Elgin Community College. As a newcomer her floor duty was limited by her Division I inexperience and by playing behind an established lineup, During this year's preseason, however, Cindy showed major overall betterment, perhaps due to a new understanding of the Indiana system. If her defense continues on its present line of improvement, Hoosier fans can expect to see Herr shooting over her opponents' heads with much more frequency.
PREP
At Kenosha's George Nelson Temper High School, Herr was coached by Dennis Penza. She played volleyball, softball and basketball and was twice the hardwood MVP and three times an all-conference pick. She went to Elgin where she played under Don Bates. Herr received the Skyway conference MVP award for both softball and basketball and ranked seventh nationally in junior college scoring in 1983. also in 1983, she was an alternate to the National Sports Festival North basketball team
PERSONAL
Herr is a student in public recreation with plans of managing a sports or health club facility after graduation. She is the daughter of Lois Herr and was born on May 6, 1964.
