SENIOR YEAR (1982-1983)
JUNIOR YEAR (1981-1982)
While a broken finger disabled her for 11 mid-season games last year, she still found the opportunity to contribute. Her biggest contribution came in the first game of the year, an 85-84 win over DePaul University. With 20 seconds remaining, Missy entered the game and promptly hit a big basket bringing the trailing Hoosiers to within one point and setting the stage for an IU win. Those two important points came as no surprise as Leckie is a shooting specialist. With a 5-9 frame she will also swing between forward and guard giving IU the luxury of more versatility and depth at both spots.
SOPHOMORE YEAR (1980-1981)
Fundamentally sound player...Has a fine shooting touch...A streak shooter who is unstoppable when hot...Should be more consistent after a summer of hard work...A good passer...A team player...Versatile...Will add depth at the small forward and big guard positions...Nicknamed "Missy."
FRESHMAN YEAR (1979-1980)
Leckie saw quite a bit of action during her freshman season at Indiana gaining invaluable experience as an intercollegiate basketball player. Effective from either the guard or forward position, this Hoosier's potent passing ability and easy shooting touch demonstrate her value to the team. A personable performer, Leckie promises coaches strength as a fine perimeter shooter. Fundamentally sound in most areas of the game, she will bring stability to the '80-81 Hoosiers with her unselfish over-all team play.
PREP
Pat Teter coached Melissa Leckie at Arthur Hill H.S. in Saginaw and found in her an impressive all-around athlete who boasted a 21 ppg and 10 rebounds per game. Applying herself not only on the court, the versatile athlete also belonged to the National Honor Society.
