FRESHMAN YEAR (1981-82)
When Paula McDole was recruited to Indiana, assistant coach Randy Mascorella compared her play to that of "a diamond in the rough." Last year Paula proved that description to be an accurate one. A quick first step, excellent passing ability, good speed and an uncanny court vision earned Paula seven starts as a freshman. Her best performance, however, came in a reserve role against Illinois State University. Paula scored seven points and had three assists in limited action and proved to be a necessary spark to the Hoosier cause. While McDole made great strides over her freshman campaign, especially on defense, she'll still be working to develop more confidence, consistency and accurate outside shooting touch.Â
PREP
Possesses good speed and quickness which should be a factor in the Hoosier's running game... Is also a clever passer who averaged 8 assists a game in high school... Also scored 21 points a game at Colonel White... Drives with authority to the basket... Has the potential to go far athletically at IU... Played in the McDonald's All-Ohio Girl's Basketball Classic last season... One of three native Daytonians on the squad.
