Shannon's height will be a big asset to the Hoosier's whose average height is 5 feet 6 inches. She was considered by Blue Star Recruiting as one of the top prospects in the country and could easily contribute to the team immediately. She finished high school averaging 20.1 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 block shots a game. She was a four-year starter and three-time MVP AT Gilmour Academy. Shannon has numerous honors, some of which include AP and UPI first team All-Ohio and 1988 Converse National High School All-American, USA Today Ohio Player-of-the-Year. She also played in the Ohio-Indiana All-Star Cage Classic, the North-South All-Ohio Classic and the Ohio High School Big Bear Classic of which she was selected the MVP player. Her high school coach was Larry Chernauskas.
