Bio
SOPHOMORE YEAR (1987-88)
Ylonda Lewis saw limited playing time as a freshman but chalked it up as a learning experience. She was ready to put her skills to the test last season but was sidelined with a stress fracture and managed to play in only three games. Ylonda has a very positive attitude and has been able to work through her setbacks and will try again this season.
FRESHMAN YEAR (1986-87)
the 1987 season was a learning one for Ylonda Lewis. She only played in seven games and averaged three minutes. Ylonda will have to use her quickness and knowledge she gained last season to launch herself into a part of the game plan. Ylonda's playing time in 1988 is directly related to her determination. If she worked hard over the summer and continues to work hard through the fall, she will reap the benefits.
PREP
As part of Coach Jorja Hoehn's first recruiting class Ylonda Lewis brings to IU basketball skills that will complement the style of play Hoehn likes. Ylonda is extremely quick and a good ball handler, plus she has the ability to see the entire court. At Milwaukee Washington High School she averaged 15 points a game her final season while while hitting 54 percent from the field and 79 percent from the line. because of her aggressiveness she was also able to grab six steals and make four assists per game in that same season. For the past two years Ylonda was her team's captain and an all-conference honoree. She is an all around athlete having participated in cross country and softball during her prep years. Sports were not her only strong suit in high school for she demonstrated her leadership abilities as student council president.
