Bio
SOPHOMORE YEAR (1987-88)
If injuries would only leave Zandrea Jeffries alone so that she could do what she was brought her for, Hoosier fans would definitely see a dynamic player. She was only in her third week of practice as a freshman when she suffered a knee injury which sidelined her for the whole season. Last year, she hyper-extended her thumb and was in a cast for several weeks. Then in a game against Iowa, she broke her nose. She was the teams leading rebounder at the time she injured her thumb, but despite all the setbacks, she finished the season as the fourth leading rebounder. Zadrea is a strong player and barring any injuries, she will make a big contribution to this year's team.
FRESHMAN YEAR (1986-87)
Zandrea's rookie season ended before it even got started as she went down in practice with a torn anterior cruciate. Her absence from the roster was felt strongly throughout the season since the Hoosiers only had one person deep in the forward position. Surgery and rehabilitation has been successful and Zandrea will be going head to head with the other Hoosiers for a starting role. Zandrea is anxious for her IU career to get started.
PREP
Indiana has needed more depth in its forward position and that is just what it will get with Zandrea Jeffries. Zandrea makes a fine addition to the team beause of her offensive abilities. She is a good ball handler with quickness, a strong rebounder and a pure competitor. At River Rouge High School she averaged 16 points and 15 rebounds a game in her final season. her career was highlighted by a 41 point effort against Robichaud High School and a trip to the regional finals where her team was beaten by Livonia Ladywood, the eventual state champion. She led River Rouge to a 22-1 season and a Suburban Athletic Conference Championship. Just last season she was named first team all-Area (Detroit), all-Suburban, all-League and all-West (Detroit).
