Hannah Sullivan enters her first season with the Hoosiers after joining the Indiana women’s soccer staff as an Assistant and Goalkeeper coach in January of 2023.
Under Sullivan’s guidance, Jamie Gerstenberg became Indiana’s first Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year. The junior keeper had her best season with a 12-4-4 record. Gerstenberg holds the career shutout record with 25 and also set the single-season shutout record with 10. The Birkenwerder, Germany, native, made 52 saves on the season with a .765 save percentage. She held an 0.83 goals against average on the season with 16 goals faced.
Prior to Indiana
In her most recent role, Sullivan served as an assistant coach for two seasons under Josh Rife at Ball State. She was responsible for the Cardinals recruiting, travel and team operations. In 2022, BSU went 7-5-8 on the year. They shutout six opponents and made it to the Mid-American Conference Championship. Prior to Ball State, Sullivan helped lead Marian University to a program record of 21 wins during her first season with the Knights in 2021.
Playing Career
Sullivan played collegiate soccer at Indiana State where she was a four-year member of the Sycamores soccer program from 2016-19. She appeared in 43 matches making 39 starts. Sullivan finished her career ranked fifth in program history with 177 career saves. She held a 1.57 career goals against average that is ranked second in program history but is the best an ISU goalkeeper has played in one season between the posts.
A Fishers, Ind., native, Sullivan was a standout goalkeeper at Fishers High School, helping lead the team to three IHSAA Semi State appearances, including a 2014 State Championship and a 2013 state runner-up finish. She was named all-state honorable mention honors, along with earning first team all-district accolades, during the 2014 championship run. As a senior in 2015, she finished the year with 17 shutouts and 0.3 goals against average. Sullivan helped guide her club team, the Indy Premier Soccer club, to a pair of state championships. She also played for the Olympic Development Program in 2013 and 2014.
Personal
Sullivan graduated in 2020 from Indiana State with her bachelor’s in communications and a coaching minor. She earned her Master of Arts in Public Relations with Sport Administration from Ball State in 2022.
