Assistant Coach/Technical Coordinator Brett Agne
Brett Agne completed his third season with the Indiana Volleyball program in 2023. He was elevated to assistant coach and technical coordinator on July 1, 2023.
Tasked with scouting and gameplan responsibilities for the program, Agne helped head coach Steve Aird design and implement opponent tendencies into practices and matches. He helped lead the opposition breakdown during walk-throughs and codes opponent passing and offensive numbers during matches.
Agne was named to Volleyball Magazine's Under 40 College Coaching Hotshots list in 2023.
The Hoosiers matched a program record with 21 regular season wins in 2023 and beat Purdue for the first time since 2012. IU finished in a tie for sixth in the conference standings, the best finish by the program since the Big Ten expanded to 14 teams.
Before the 2022 campaign, Agne was elevated to the team's director of operations where he maintained his current on-court and off-the-court duties while continuing to play an integral role in the program's success.
In the fall 2021 season, he served as the program’s technical coordinator. His main responsibilities included production of both staff and team scouting reports, facilitating individual and team film sessions, and the assembly of all individual and conference statistics. He also aided in multiple operational duties within the program. Agne Joined the staff in the summer of 2021 after his time with the Toledo Volleyball program.
Agne has assisted the USA Women's National Team twice over the course of his time with Indiana. He was a performance analyst, working with them for both the World Championships and the Volleyball Nations League.
He also helped accompany athletes to the U.S. National Team Open Program which saw Morgan Geddes and Camryn Haworth named to the 2023 U.S. Collegiate National Team.
Agne spent three years with the Rockets, helping pave the way for the program to have its best start in program history. As the technical coordinator for the University, Agne maintained a wealth of responsibilities. In practice roles included video recording, live tagging, and all statistical collection.
He also aided in operational functions such as coordinating team travel, meals, and scheduling with facilities. Due to COVID-19, Agne’s position expanded into a coaching role for the 2020-2021 season. This allowed him to facilitate on court activities where he worked primarily with the defensive personnel.
Outside of UT, Agne worked extensively with Premier Volleyball Academy in Maumee, Ohio. Starting in 2016, Agne entered the facility as an assistant coach. By the end of his time with Premier, he had acquired a copious amount of responsibility.
He became a head indoor coach, beach coach, strength and conditioning coach, league coordinator, youth instructor, lead camp clinician, and co-tier trainer. As a coach Agne brought home countless tournament championships, as well as a National Championship from AAU’s in the 17 Classic Division.
Agne graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Marine and Aquatic Biology.
