Kelsey Cronin is in her third year as Indiana's Director of Volleyball Operations after serving as an assistant coach at Morehead State University for two seasons.
Cronin's first season at Indiana was a historic one, as Indiana advanced to the NCAA Tournament and made a run to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in program history. The Hoosiers finished the season 23-12 and saw Ashley Benson and Jordan Haverly earn All-Big Ten recognition. The Hoosiers won a 3-1 thriller at home over eventual NCAA champion Penn State, and IU took down Tennessee and Miami in NCAA first and second round action.
Season two in Bloomington saw Caitlin Cox break the school record for career digs, and Samantha Thrower tie a national record for hitting percentage in a match with 15 kills on 15 swings against Buffalo. The Hoosiers also took non-conference tournament titles at both home tourneys, winning the Hoosier Classic and the IU Classic.
Cronin has also organized Indiana's work in the Bloomington community and surrounding area, including work with Girls Inc., the Ellettsville Boy's and Girl's Club, Hoosier Hills Food Bank and PALS.
In Cronin's two seasons as an assistant coach at Morehead State, the Eagles posted a winning percentage of nearly .700 (44-19). Cronin helped guide MSU to a 23-8 mark and Ohio Valley Conference regular season title in 2008 while posting a 21-11 overall record in '09. Both seasons saw the Eagles advance to the finals of the OVC Tournament.
In addition to coaching, Cronin also performed many of the tasks for Morehead State that she is responsible for with the Hoosiers. She was heavily involved with assisting the student-athletes in their academic endeavors, community service projects, administrative duties, travel arrangements and film exchange.
Cronin's credentials also include success on the court, playing four seasons at Morehead State (2004-07). In her senior season, she racked up 274 kills, 73 digs and 91 total blocks to lead the Eagles to a share of the OVC regular season title. Cronin graduated magna cum laude with a Sociology degree in 2008 before continuing her education while coaching, earning her master's degree in 2009.
