Matt Walsh joined the staff in August 2019 as the Technical Coordinator. In his role, Walsh coordinates all film, video and statistical analysis efforts in both practice and competition settings. Walsh also is heavily involved in scouting opponents and creating scouting reports. In addition, Walsh assists in the development and creation of graphics and video projects used to convey the vision of the volleyball program.
Walsh joined the Hoosiers after playing professionally in the Extraliga in the Czech Republic, where he was a member of Aero Odolena Voda. Previously, he has coached at EVP Beach Volleyball and Ultimate Volleyball Club in Chicago. He has also worked camps at the University of Wisconsin.
From 2015-18 Walsh played collegiately at Ball State as a middle blocker. At Ball State Walsh was a two-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honoree and a four-time Scholar Athlete. In 2017, the 6-11, Walsh was ranked first in hitting percentage nationally and top-10 in blocks/set. In his senior year he was the team captain and racked up 1180 career points, which ranks second in school history.
Walsh, a native of Chicago, Illinois, was a four year starting middle blocker at Ball State and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies.
