Peter Chang is in his second season as the volunteer coach for Indiana Volleyball. Chang has vast coaching experience in the state of Indiana, serving as head coach for Club Munciana U13's (2001-08), Ball State's Club Team (2005-08) and Muncie Central High JV team (2003-08). He also worked as the assistant varsity coach for Muncie Central.
At IU, Chang works extensively with the defensive specialists and serving game. He also acted as the 2010 IU Summer Camps Director. Under the guidance of Chang, IU libero Caitlin Cox set the all-time school record with 488 digs.
Chang was named the 2007 National Intramural-Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA) Coach of the Year in women's Division-I after leading Ball State to third place at the NIRSA national championship and guiding the Cardinals to a No. 1 national ranking for seven consecutive weeks. In four seasons, Chang led Ball State to a 142-9 record and four top-five national finishes.
Chang trained more than 100 athletes at Munciana that went on to play college volleyball, including three Big Ten liberos in 2008: Cox (Indiana), Kim Kuzma (Wisconsin) and Kelli Miller (Purdue). His team earned six bids to the Junior Olympics and placed fifth in 2002.
While at Muncie Central High, he aided the Bearcats to the 2004 Indiana state championship and three state runner-up finishes (2003, `06, `08). In his six years there, Muncie Central posted an overall record of 212-22. Chang coached under Wes Lyon for three seasons at Muncie Southside High as well.
Chang, a native of South Korea, graduated from Ball State in 2006 with a degree in Physical Education.
