Jennifer Wilkinson joined the Sports Medicine staff in 2012, providing care and coordination for Water Polo and Diving. In 2015, Wilkinson was promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer. During her Sports Medicine collegiate career, Wilkinson has been part of multiple BIG EAST Volleyball Conference Championships, NCAA Volleyball Sweet 16 appearance as well as Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championships while seeing numerous individual NCAA National Champions and Olympic Qualifiers.
In addition to the Sports Medicine responsibilities, Wilkinson is an Adjunct Instructor for the Department of Kinesiology in the School of Public Health and also serves as a preceptor for the IU Athletic Training Program. Her expanding role also sees her serving as a mentor to Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers and serves as an occasional guest lecturer for both undergraduate and graduate courses each semester. She served as the Faculty Advisor for the IU Athletic Training Student Council for two years. For the past three years, Wilkinson has orchestrated the annual Senior Athletic Training student recognition day as well as the Athletic Training Program awards banquet. Both events are held in conjunction with the IU School of Public Health and Indiana University Athletics.
In July, 2014, Wilkinson was selected to co-lead a group of Athletic Training students on a 10-day voyage to the Dominican Republic. During this assignment, Wilkinson instructed various Kinesiology clinical field experiences in association with the Texas Rangers baseball organization.
Prior to returning home to Indiana, Wilkinson worked at St. John’s University from 2005-2012. During her seven years in New York City, she provided Sports Medicine attention to the Women’s Volleyball, Softball and Women’s Track & Field programs. In addition to her SJU Sports Medicine responsibilities, Wilkinson was an Approved Clinical Instructor in the Athletic Training Education Department for Long Island University in Brooklyn.
While working at St. John’s University, Wilkinson traveled overseas to Vietnam to represent the United States in an international volleyball tournament where SJU Volleyball won the silver medal. In addition, Wilkinson was selected to serve as an Athletic Trainer with the United States Women’s Soccer team and the New York City Fire Department.
Wilkinson earned a B.S in Kinesiology/Athletic Training from Indiana University in 2003 and continued her education at IU earning an M.S. in Kinesiology/Sports Medicine in 2005. Wilkinson is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and is on the Exam Development Committee for the Board of Certification with the NATA.
Originally from Kendallville, Ind., the former Jennifer Hamilton and her husband, Shane, reside in Bloomington with their daughter, Brielle and son, Colten.
