Eric Schwartz serves as the Associate Athletic Director/Compliance overseeing the athletic department’s administration of its NCAA, Big Ten and Institutional compliance program. In addition to leading the day-to-day activities of the compliance office, Schwartz is the primary compliance contact for Men’s Basketball, Football and Baseball.
Schwartz originally joined Indiana University Athletics in November 2017 as an Assistant Director of Compliance responsible for regulating time management plans and playing & practice seasons for all 24 sports, as well as serving as the primary compliance contact for Men’s Tennis, Women’s Tennis, and Women’s Soccer.
Prior to joining Indiana University, Schwartz learned under compliance greats Zac Saunders, Dustin Gray, Adam Soles and Laura Fink as a legal intern for 2½ years at the University of Pittsburgh.
Like his father before him, Schwartz is a triple graduate of the University of Pittsburgh having earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, a juris doctor from the School of Law, and a master’s in business administration from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. Schwartz was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in June 2017. Most importantly, Schwartz graduated in 2009 from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD.
Schwartz and his wife, Emily, originally from Pittsburgh, live with their beloved dog Schenley in the State of Indiana, but maintain a primary residence offshore for tax purposes.
What’s your favorite IU Memory? Walking north on Woodlawn between 13th and 17th in the fall, with Memorial Stadium and Assembly Hall in the background with the changing leaves in the foreground.
Favorite holiday tradition? My Aunt Lesia’s Christmas cookies. Better than Oakmont Bakery and you can tell them I said that.
What's your favorite sports team? Chelsea Football Club
