Jay Sears is in his 43rd season with Indiana University, serving as the Equipment Manager for all of the Hoosiers Olympic sports programs.
He is longest serving Equipment Manager in the history of Indiana University Athletics. A Bloomington, Ind. native, Sears is an IU graduate and a certified athletic equipment manager with the AEMA.
Sears has assisted with every team in the department of athletics during his career. With that has come a variety NCAA team and Big Ten championships and associated with many individual NCAA, Big 10 champions and Olympic medalists.
Sears resides in Bloomington with his wife Leah and has a son, Meshach, and daughter, Samaritan Van Deventer and husband Heath. His greatest joy is his grandsons Harlan, Waylon, and Gibson who he affectionately calls the “V Boys.”
