A native of Holland, Indiana, he went to medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis after finishing a degree in Biochemistry at IU Bloomington. He then did a family medicine residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Birmingham, Alabama with Dr. James Andrews. He began practicing in Bloomington 12 years ago after finishing his Sports Medicine Fellowship.

He is board certified in family medicine with a certificate of added qualification in primary care sports medicine. Dr. LaGrange currently serves as the interim chief medical office for the IU athletic department and is Medical Director for the IU athletic training program. His wife Sarah Jane is a practicing Psychologist in Bloomington and he has two children, Cora and Grant.
