A former Big Ten Championship IU student-athlete, Lorian Price has been IU’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services since July 2020.

Price oversees the operations of IU’s D. Ames Shuel Academic Center and the academic services for Indiana University’s 24 varsity athletic programs. She also serves as the direct academic advisor to IU’s men’s and women’s basketball programs. Under her leadership, IU’s student-athletes have performed at record levels in the classroom. In addition to establishing new record totals for Academic All-Big Ten honorees in each of the most recent fall, winter, and spring sports seasons, IU’s student-athletes have also established new record Graduation Success Rate (GSR) scores each year, highlighted by a 92 percent in 2021.

Price is a 2016 graduate of the Women Leaders Institute for Administrative Advancement as well as a 2019 graduate of the Indiana University Management Training Series for top emerging leaders on all Indiana University campuses.

Price joined the IU Athletics team in 2009 as an academic intern, working with the IU Football program. She was promoted to Academic Advisor in 2010, and she worked with the IU Track and Field, Women’s Golf, Field Hockey and Women’s Soccer programs. In 2014, she was promoted to Director of Academic services working with various teams until she was promoted to her current role in 2020.

A 2008 IU graduate in sport communication who earned her Master’s from IU a year later in Athletic Administration, Price was a standout for IU’s track and field program throughout her undergraduate career. She won her first individual Big Ten title in the 100-meter hurdles in 2005, and followed that up with a Big Ten title in the long jump in 2007. A three-time First-Team All-Big Ten honoree who was also a qualifier for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in the long jump, Price still ranks in the top five on IU’s all-time lists in the 60-meter indoor hurdles, the 100-meter outdoor hurdles, and the indoor and outdoor long jumps.
