Jenny Wittenauer joined the Hoosiers in December of 2019 as an Assistant Director of Compliance, Initial Eligibility. She was elevated to Associate Director of Compliance, Eligibility in or around April of 2022.
In her current role, she oversees eligibility for all incoming and continuing student-athletes for all 24 sports at IU. She works closely with coaches, prospective student-athletes, current student-athletes, and campus partners to navigate NCAA rules and institutional requirements. Wittenauer also serves as a compliance liaison for the Women’s Soccer, Women’s Rowing, and Women’s Water Polo teams.
Wittenauer came to IU from Western Kentucky University, where she served as the Director of Compliance from 2016 through 2019. She has also worked in compliance positions at the University of Maryland (Assistant Director of Compliance for Financial Aid, 2015-16) and East Tennessee State University (Compliance Coordinator, 2012-2015).
Along with her responsibilities in the compliance office, Wittenauer is member of the NCAA Eligibility Center Division I Advisory Group and was a founding member of IU’s Anti-Racist Book Club. She also serves on the IU Staff Professional Development Committee and previously was a part of the IU Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Coalition.
A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Wittenauer graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Northern Kentucky University in 2005. She went on to earn a Master of Science from the University of Louisville in Sport Administration in 2010.
Wittenauer holds the school record at Jeffersontown High School (Louisville, KY) for most charges taken in one season. No one knows the actual number, but it’s definitely the most ever. In her free time, she enjoys college basketball, riding motorcycles, traveling, and reading.
Favorite thing to do in Bloomington: People-watch from the Upstairs Pub
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? The ability to read people’s minds, because then I could know for sure if they’re mad at me or not.
What’s your proudest accomplishment? Seeing young professionals that I have supervised and/or mentored find success and happiness.
