Hoosiers Roll Past Wisconsin, 69-52

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana women's basketball team picked up its second Big Ten win of the season as the Hoosiers defeated Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon, 69-52.
The Hoosiers (12-4, 2-3 Big Ten) saw four different players score 11 points, including Amanda Cahill, Jess Walter, Tyra Buss and Larryn Brooks. Karlee McBride also hit double figures with 10 points, while Jenn Anderson added eight points and Alexis Gassion scored seven points while pulling down a career-high 16 rebounds in her first start of the season.
Indiana opened the game with a quick five-point lead as Gassion nailed a 3-pointer followed by a Buss layup. Buss scored nine of her 11 points in the opening stanza.
An 8-0 Wisconsin (6-10, 2-4 Big Ten) run marked by a triple from Jacki Gulczynski gave the Badgers a four-point advantage at 12-8 with 15:26 left in the period.
The Hoosiers quickly answered with a 19-3 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 39-20 with four minutes remaining in opening stanza. The stretch, which was punctuated by back-to-back 3-pointers from Buss and McBride, included a 16-0 run that saw Indiana sink seven free throws.
Four different Hoosiers scored at least seven first half points as Indiana took a 43-30 lead into the locker room.
Cahill knocked in eight of her 11 points in the second half as the Hoosiers pushed their advantage to 18 points with 16:35 left on the clock.
The Badgers trimmed the Indiana lead down to nine points at 57-48 with 6:14 remaining, however Wisconsin would get no closer as the Hoosiers finished the game on a 12-4 run.
IU forced Wisconsin into 21 miscues and outscored the Badgers 23-10 in points off turnovers. For the 12th time this season, IU's bench outscored its opponent's with a 21-2 edge on Sunday over UW.
Up next, Indiana will hit the road as the Hoosiers travel to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers next Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
