• The Indiana defense held Northwestern scoreless and to just 37 yards in the second half. It is the defense's second scoreless half of the season (first half against Ball State).
• Tegray Scales collected his fifth straight double-digit tackle game, tied for the most in the Big Ten and fifth-most nationally, and the sixth of his career. The junior linebacker made 10 stops (9 solo) and 2.5 TFLs, his third game this season with multi-tackles for loss and the fifth of his career.
• True freshman husky Marcelino Ball posted a career-high 10 tackles with a career-high-tying eight solos while also adding a career-high 1.5 TFLs.
• Redshirt junior linebacker Marcus Oliver matched his season-high with nine stops, six solo, and 1.5 for loss.
• A pair of redshirt sophomore defensive lineman accounted for Indiana's three sacks. Nile Sykes netted the first two-sack game (14 yards) of the season, while Mike Barwick, Jr., pulled down Clayton Thorson for the first sack of his career. Sykes, who had a career-high three TFLs (16 yards), has three career sacks (all this year).
• Redshirt junior cornerback Rashard Fant and sophomore safety Jonathan Crawford each broke up three passes. It marked Fant's sixth career game with three-or-more PBUs, while Crawford set a career-high after he entered the game with three breakups in his career.
• Nick Westbrook led IU with a career-high 10 receptions for 126 yards, his third career 100-yard game, all this season. He added his first career rushing touchdown, from three yards out, in the third quarter.
• Running back Devine Redding set career-highs with six catches for 45 yards. The junior added 42 rushing yards.
• Sophomore Devonte Williams delivered a career-high 42 rushing yards on just four carries (10.5 average) with a career-long rush of 24 yards.
• Fifth-year senior wide receiver Ricky Jones blocked the first punt of his career and the second for Indiana in as many weeks. Redshirt junior safety Chase Dutra blocked a punt against No. 10 Nebraska last weekend, resulting in a safety.
• Jones also caught seven balls for 73 yards.
• Richard Lagow completed 35-of-59 passes for 319 yards, posting his second game in 2016 over the 300-yard mark. The 59 attempts are tied for second in school history (Cameron Coffman at Penn State, 11/17/12). The 35 completions are good for third in school history.
• Redshirt junior Camion Patrick recorded the first catch of his career, a 7-yarder in the third quarter. Patrick closed out the game with two receptions for 25 yards.
• Griffin Oakes hit two of his three field goal attempts with a 21-yarder in the opening quarter and a 29-yarder in the third. The redshirt junior out of Greenwood, Ind., is 10-of-15 on the season and 17-of-17 on extra points. Oakes moved into a tie for third on the IU career field goals list (47) and moved into seventh on the career total points list (234).
• Fifth-year senior Dan Feeney (3rd time in 2016), fifth-year senior Mitchell Paige (2nd time), redshirt junior Marcus Oliver (7th) and junior Tegray Scales (2nd) served as today's game captains.
• Indiana won the coin toss for the fifth time this season and deferred until the second half for the fifth time this season.
• Northwestern and IU met for the first time since 2012.
