• Indiana improves to 97-20 all-time in season openers and has won 19 straight season opening games
• Indiana head coach Tom Crean is now 17-1 in season openers in his head coaching career
• The win over No. 2/3 Kansas makes it the highest ranked opponent the Hoosiers have defeated in a season opener since beating No. 2 UCLA in St. Louis in 1975.
• Indiana increases its lead in the all-time series against Kansas to 8-6.
• Indiana has now won 24 regular season games against ranked opponents, the highest total in the Big Ten since the 2011-12 season.
• The 103 points scored makes it three out of the last four years that Indiana has scored 100 or more points in the season opener (100 vs. Chicago State in 2013; 116 vs. Mississippi Valley State in 2014).
• Both teams finished the game shooting 44 percent from the floor and took and made the same number of shots (31-for-71).
• Indiana connected on 15 3-point field goals in the game, the eighth time under Tom Crean that the Hoosiers have made at least 15 in a game. It's the most since making 19 against Illinois on Jan. 19, 2016.
• The 15 3-pointers made by the Hoosiers are the most that Kansas has allowed in a non-conference game since at least 1996-97 (courtesy STATS, INC.).
• Indiana had five players score in double figures for the second straight season opener (six last year vs. Eastern Illinois).
• IU held Kanas to just 2-for-9 shooting in the overtime period to pull out the win.
• The win is the first overtime win for IU since beating Georgetown on Nov. 20, 2012 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
• Indiana shot 50.0 percent (14-for-28) from the field in the second half, including 7-for-12 from long distance. When you add in the 2-for-3 effort in overtime, the Hoosiers were 9-for-15 over the final 25 minutes.
• The game featured 16 ties and 17 lead changes. Kansas' largest lead was nine points early in the second half while the Hoosiers largest lead was five points with 3:45 left in regulation.
• Junior guard James Blackmon Jr. led Indiana with 26 points – 22 coming in the second half. It's the 14th game of his career scoring at least 20 points. He went 4-of-8 from the 3-point line and 6-for-7 at the free throw line while also grabbing six rebounds.
• Blackmon now has 750 points in 47 career games played.
• Sophomore center Thomas Bryant recorded his third career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He kept the Hoosiers in the game in the first half with 16 points.
• Freshman guard Curtis Jones made quite the splash in his collegiate debut, dropping 15 points in 16 minutes off the bench. He saved his best for last, draining a step-back 3-pointer in the overtime period and then icing the game with a fastbreak dunk in the closing seconds.
• Sophomore forward OG Anunoby did a little bit of everything, totaling 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots (ties career high). He also matched a career best with three made 3-point field goals.
• Junior guard Robert Johnson was the fifth Hoosier in double figures, scoring 10 points to go with two assists and two steals. He went 1-for-2 behind the 3-point line to extend his streak to 10 games with at least one 3-point field goal made.
• Redshirt junior Josh Newkirk finished with seven points in his first game as a Hoosier after sitting out last year after transferring from Pittsburgh. He also grabbed five rebounds (career high) and handed out four assists in 35 minutes.
• Sophomore forward Juwan Morgan hauled down a career-best 10 rebounds while scoring six points and dishing out four assists in 26 minutes off the bench.
• Freshman forward De'Ron Davis began his IU career with four points, but the most crucial were a pair of free throws in the overtime period to make it a two-possession game with 42 seconds left.
• Freshman guard Devonte Green connected on a 3-point field goal for his only points of the game.
• Junior forward Freddie McSwain Jr. made his Indiana debut by playing four minutes and grabbing two rebounds.
