TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Katherine Receveur capped off her stellar sophomore season with All-America honors. Receveur finished in 11th place to earn the distinction and joins elite company, becoming just the eighth (11 total selections) female runner to earn All-America accolades.
She becomes the first female to earn this honor since Wendi Robinson in 2008. Her 11th place finish is the highest in the NCAA Championships for an IU runner since three-time All-American Michelle Dekkers finished third in 1989.
Receveur's sophomore campaign finished on a high note. In her final three races she earned First-Team All-Big Ten for her runner-up finish at Minnesota, All-Region for her third place effort in Madison and All-America honors.
Jason Crist joined Receveur in the All-America circle, finishing 38th in the men's 10k race. The last male runner to earn this honor was Zach Mayhew in 2012. Crist is the 19th (28 total selections) male runner in Indiana team history to earn All-America.
Crist could not have ended his cross country career any better. He earned All-Big Ten honors for the fourth consecutive year after a top eight finish in the Big Ten Championships. He followed that up with a sixth place finish in the Regional meet in Madison.
Senior Matt Schwartzer finished 46th for Indiana. Schwartzer ends his cross country career with Indiana having earned All-Big Ten First-Team honors this season and placing fourth in the Regional meet a week ago.
The last time Indiana has boasted multiple runners with All-America distinctions in the same season was 2005 when Jessica Gall and Sean Jefferson both captured All-American status.
With the 2016 cross country season in the books, IU will now gear up for the track season, which begins on December 9th with the Hoosier Open.
