IU Finishes 15th at NCAA Championship

GOLD RIVER, California – Making their third straight trip to the NCAA Championships, the Indiana rowing team finished 15th in the team standings after the final day of races on Sunday at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center.
The top finish was produced by the 1V4 crew of Coxswain Leah Jade Hughes, stroke Siena Patty, 3-seat Siri Kristiansen, 2-seat Katie Dreessen and bow Kaelin Blessinger, who closed their weekend with a sixth place showing in the Petite final to take 12th place. Their time of 7:23.400 is their fastest of the season.
The 2V8 crew got out to a very fast start and was battling with Duke for the lead throughout the race. They would close their run at the regatta with a 14th place finish overall after crossing the line fourth in the C final with a time of 6:37.403.
And the 1V8 was not able to get out of the start as quickly as the others in their C final heat, but battled their way back into contention before falling back to finish in fourth place with a time of 6:29.012, taking 16th overall. Their time was their second-fastest of the year, just 0.1 second behind their time at Clemson.
