
Cross Country Sweeps Intercollegiate Meet

On a rainy, wet day at the Indiana Championships Cross Country Course, the Hoosiers swept the Indiana Intercollegiate meet. Over 20 teams competed in the 77th annual meet.
The women's team was victorious for the eighth consecutive time at this meet. IU was led by Katherine Receveur, who placed second with a time of 17:52.05. Brenna Calder followed her win at the Indiana Open with a third place finish. The next trio of Hoosiers to score were Chanli Mundy (fifth), Hannah Stoffel (sixth) and Corinne Cominator (seventh). Haley Harris took eighth, giving IU six of the top eight finishers. IU edged out runner-up Purdue by a score of 23-36.
The men's team followed the women's lead and completed the Hoosier sweep. Matt Schwartzer was the top men's finisher with a time of 25:37.51, good for a third place finish. Freshman Ben Veatch claimed fourth in his first collegiate meet. Jason Crist took fifth, Mark Chandler finished sixth and Kyle Mau crossed in eighth to round out the Indiana scoring. IU again outscored rival Purdue 26-44 to secure the victory.
In the women's open race, four unattached IU teammates finished in the top six. Grace Walther won the open with a time of 18:37.40. Lexa Barrott took third, Stacy Morozov finished fourth and Kelsey Harris claimed sixth.
On the men's side, four runners finished inside the top five. Competing unattached Cooper Williams and Cameron Clements finished second and fourth, respectively. Jordan Huntoon and Bobby Browning took third and fifth.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on October 1st as they head to Lawrence, Kansas for the Rim Rock Farm Classic.
