Amanda Cahill Named CoSIDA Academic All-District for Second Straight Year

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Junior forward Amanda Cahill has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second-straight year, announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon. She is one of five members on the District 5 team, which features teams from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
The Clyde, Ohio native is one of five Division I athletes to make first team honors with a 3.90 GPA in elementary education. Cahill is a repeat selection to the All-District list, also earning the distinction as a sophomore. She will now be featured on the ballot for Academic All-American voting, with the final results announced in March.
This season, Cahill – who has played and started in all 24 games this season - is the team's second leading scorer, averaging 15.2 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game. She also contributes 2.7 assists, 1.4 steal while shooting 48.9 percent from the floor and 39.6 percent from 3-point range. Cahill earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors on Dec. 26 and was an Allstate WBCA Good Works team nominee this season. Her eight double-doubles is a team-high and has scored in double figures in the last 17 games. She also ranks sixth in the Big Ten in rebounds and 3-point field goal percentage.
She also became the 26th member of IU's 1,000 point club on Dec. 21 and the 14th member of the 1,000 point, 600 rebound club this season as well. Her 1,184 points ranks 17th all-time, her 732 rebounds are 10th all-time and her 72 blocks are 10th all-time as well.
Cahill and the Hoosiers are back in action on Saturday when it hosts the annual "Pink Day" game at Simon Skjodt Assembly hall. Tipoff is slated for 12 p.m. ET live on the Big Ten Network.
