
#IUTF Wins Louisville Invitational, Defeating Five Schools

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Indiana University track and field team enjoyed another excellent meet at the Louisville Invitational. In total, seven athletes either cracked the top 10 list or improved their spot within the list. In the team scoring, the men's team took first with 156.5 points. The women's team placed third with 122 points.
Willie Morrison took first in the men's shot put with a mark of 19.15m (62-10). Morrison started the day off with the throw of 19.15m, easily the best throw of the first round. Attempting to top his own school record, Morrison fouled his final five throws of the day. The discus was a tad more dramatic for the sophomore All-American. It took until his final throw to win his first collegiate meet in the discus. He hit a huge PR of 53.84m (176-8) to earn the double.
Morrison's teammate, David Schall, finished third in the shot put with a mark of 17.42m (57-2). On the women's side, Khayla Dawson finished as the runner-up with a mark of 16.64m (54-7.25), the fifth best put in school history. Dawson also slid into the top 10 in the discus with a mark of 49.13m (161-2). She finished fifth in the event. Nakel McClinton was third in the discus with a season best heave of 51.24m (168-1).
Sydney Clute continued her winning ways in the pole vault. On a blustery day, she was able to clear 4.20m (13-9.25). Rachel Mather secured fourth in the event with a clearance of 3.70m (12-1.5). In his first collegiate outdoor meet of his Indiana career, Adam Coulon cleared the bar at 4.96m (16-3.25) to finish fourth.
Three runners finished inside the top four of the women's 800m run. Olivia Hippensteel paced Indiana with a runner-up finish. Her time was 2:07.74. Brenna Calder was just behind in third with a time of 2:07.87. Kendell Wiles rounded out the top four with a time of 2:09.21. On the men's side, Adam Wallace finished third after a valiant comeback with a time of 1:53.79.
Before rabbiting the 800m run, Katherine Receveur took first in the 1,500m run with a personal best time of 4:21.18. Her time is now the seventh quickest in school history. Joe Murphy and Kyle Mau claimed the second and third spots, respectively, in the 1,500m run on the men's side. Murphy finished with a time of 3:45.45 and Mau crossed in 3:45.81.
Tyler Bellaire shattered his previous personal best in the 100m dash. His time of 10.51 was good for a second place finish and topped his previous mark by nearly a quarter of a second. William Session darted to a third place finish in the 110m hurdles. His time of 14.12 established a new personal best, and just missed the top 10 list. Markevious Roach placed inside the top five in both the 200m dash (fifth) and the 400m dash (third). The 4x100m relay squad of Bellaire, Dushawn Tunstall, Treyton Harris and Roach finished second with a time of 41.01.
Drew Ludwig started the day off on the right foot for the Hoosiers. In the first event of the day, the javelin throw, he was able to score six points with a third place finish. His best throw of 58.40m (191-7) is the seventh best mark in school history in the event.
Three Hoosiers established new collegiate outdoor career best marks in the long jump. Ari Nelson led the way on the women's side with a fourth place finish. Her mark of 6.21m (20-4.5) is the sixth best mark in school history. Aaliyah Armstead took fifth place with a mark of 6.06m (19-10.75), the 10th best jump in program history. On the men's side, Eric Bethea finished third with a personal best mark of 7.42m (24-4.25).
Leah Moran cracked into the Hoosier leaderboard in the triple jump with a great afternoon. Her mark of 12.23m (40-1.5) ranks sixth in school history. She hit her mark on the first attempt of the afternoon and finished second in the meet. Paul Galas won a jump-off with Jerin Allen to win the high jump competition. His final clearance was 2.11m (6-11).
The Hoosier track and field team will be back in action next weekend as they travel to West Lafayette to battle in-state rival Purdue.
