Hoosiers Fall Short Against Butler, 7-5

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana baseball (19-15-2, 6-5-1) couldn't overcome a five-run deficit as the Hoosiers fell to the Butler Bulldogs, 7-5, on Wednesday night at Bart Kaufman Field.
Senior Craig Dedelow led the effort with two RBI, while junior Matt Lloyd paced the Hoosiers with two hits and two free passes. Sophomore Luke Miller and freshman Matt Gorski each chipped in a run, while junior Laren Eustace scored twice and picked up a walk.
Freshman Cameron Beauchamp (1-2) picked up the loss, with junior Kade Kryzsko tossing three innings of relief. He scattered four hits and struck out three while holding the Bulldogs scoreless. Freshman Cal Krueger also went multiple innings from the pen with 2.2-inning appearance. He didn't surrender a hit and handed Butler three strikeouts.
The Bulldogs scored in each of the first three innings. In the first it was a wild pitch that tallied the first run of the game. The following inning, a single made it 2-0 and in the third, a throwing error scored a third run for Butler.
In the fifth, Butler plated two runs to extend its lead to 5-0. The Bulldogs used a double and a single the following at bat to score their fourth and fifth runs.
The Hoosiers made it a one-run game in the fifth when they knocked in four runs. Freshman Jeremy Houston led the inning off with a walk. Two batters later, a fielding error put Indiana in scoring position. Lloyd singled through the right side, scoring the Hoosiers' first run of the game. Back-to-back doubles by Dedelow and Gorski pushed across three more runs for the Hoosiers.
Butler upped its lead to three runs with a ninth inning, two-run homer to left field.
