Hoosiers Continue Homestand with Northwestern, Illinois

THIS WEEK'S PROMOS
• Thursday's game will be Kids Eat Free Night, with every youth in attendance receiving a free hot dog and drink. In addition, it's Student Appreciation Night with the first 100 students receiving a free Papa John's pizza.
• Sunday's game is Pink Day as IU looks to raise awareness for breast cancer. The first 200 fans will receive a pink Indiana t-shirt.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Hoosiers hosted Purdue last Saturday in the battle for the Golden Boot. Maya Piper put Indiana on top in the 25th minute, but the Boilermakers eventually came back to equalize in the 64th minute of action as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
HOOSIER NOTABLES
• Piper and sophomore Chandra Davidson lead the Hoosiers with 11 points apiece, with both netting five goals this season.
• Three of Davidson's goals have been gamewinners, which is the third-most in the Big Ten and tied for 17th in the nation.
• 10 different Hoosiers have recorded an assist this season. Mykayla Brown has registered four assists this year, a career-best for the redshirt junior.
• Indiana has netted nine of its 15 goals in the second half this year, out-scoring its opponents in the final 45 minutes, 9-5.
• After scoring just one first-half goal leading in to Indiana's Sept. 10 game at North Texas, the Hoosiers have scored in the first half in the last four games.
• Freshman goalkeeper Bethany Kopel has recorded four shutouts this season, which is tied for 40th nationally and third-most amongst freshmen, The Novi, Mich. native has 51 saves, which is good for third in the Big Ten and tied for 61st nationally, In addition, she is the seventh-most saves amongst freshmen in the country.
• The second RPI of the season was announced on Monday, with Indiana coming in at No. 47.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
• After dropping its Big Ten opener against Penn State, the Wildcats have earned a result in the last three contests - wins against Ohio State and Maryland and a draw with Rutgers.
• Northwestern earned a share of the Big Ten regular season conference championship last year and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen.
• Marisa Viggiano (2 goals, 4 assists) and Kayla Sharples (3 goals, 2 assists) lead the Northwestern offense with eight points each.
• Senior Lauren Clem, who is second in program history in career saves, has played every minute in goal for Northwestern. The 2016 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year has five shutouts with 48 saves a 0.96 goals against average this season.
• Northwestern came in at No. 37 in this week's RPI.
• The series between IU and Northwestern is tied, 11-11-3.
• Last season, the Wildcats came away with a 1-0 win in Evanston as Northwestern scored in the 13th minute on a rebound from a penalty kick.
SCOUTING ILLINOIS
• The Illini are in the midst of a six-game losing streak with its last win coming Sept. 3 against Miami (Ohio).
• Arianna Veland and Katie Murray have both netted a pair of goals for Illinois.
• Jaelyn Cunningham has played every minute between the pipes and leads the conference with 74 saves, which is fifth nationally.
• Illinois will face off against Purdue on Thursday night before heading to Bloomington.
• The Illini lead the all-time series, 11-6-4, but the Hoosiers picked up a 1-0 victory in Champaign in 2016 as Mykayla Brown found the back of the net less than two minutes into the first overtime period.
ROAD WARRIORS
• Saturday's game against Purdue marked the first home contest for IU in nearly a month as they went on a seven-game road swing.
• Indiana posted a 4-2-1 record in the seven games away from Bill Armstrong Stadium. Not counting the neutral site game against Memphis, the Hoosiers are 4-1-1 in true road games.
• During that time, IU visited Michigan twice (Western Michigan, Michigan State and Michigan), Tennessee (Vanderbilt and Memphis) and Texas (SMU and North Texas).
