Wiles And Kuhn Move Up In Big Ten Rankings On Day One Of IU Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana track and field seniors Kendell Wiles and Daniel Kuhn moved up in the Big Ten rankings after their performances on day one of the Indiana University relays.
Blacksburg, Va. native Kendell Wiles had close competition from Kelsey Balkwill of Windsor but pulled ahead in the final turn of the 600m. Wiles' performance replaced her previous No. 2 Big Ten time from the Gladstein Invitational (1:30.38) with her time of 1:29.82. Sophomore Mallory Mulzer finished fourth with the time of 1:33.51.
Senior Daniel Kuhn moved up a spot in the Big Ten rankings (No. 2) after winning the men's 600m by six seconds with the time of 1:16.62. Kuhn now sits behind junior Isaiah Harris of Penn State (No. 1) by only seven one hundredths of a second (0.07).
In the 60m hurdles, sophomore William Session (7.98) and freshman Zykeria Williams (8.60) advanced to the finals that will take place Saturday at 11:50am (women) and 12:00pm (men). Sophomore Megan Grabowski qualified for the 60m finals finishing seventh overall with the time of 7.71. Freshman Rikkoi Brathwaite competed unattached and advanced to the 60m finals with the fifth fastest time (6.87).
In the field junior Aaliyah Armstead took home a first place finish in the women's long jump with the final mark of 5.92m (19'5.25"). Sophomore Leah Moran finished third overall with the mark of 5.68m (18'7.75"). On the men's side junior Treyton Harris took second place with the mark of 7.53m (24'8.5"). Harris is currently tied with Zack Bazile of Ohio State for the No. 1 mark in the Big Ten.
Sophomore Adam Coulon cleared 5.19m (17'0.25") in the men's pole vault, which earned him a second place finish. Freshman Brock Mammoser finished third with the mark of 4.84m (15'10.50") and sophomore Alex Shinnerl took fifth.
Sophomore Khayla Dawson won the women's put with the final mark of 16.63m (54'6.75"). Dawson was just short of her currently ranked mark (No. 3) in the Big Ten from her performance at the Gladstein Invitational (16.64m / 54'7.25").
Day two of the Indiana University Relays will begin on the track at 9:00am EST on Saturday, January 27 with the women 60m hurdles for pentathlon. The first field event will be the women's high jump for pentathlon at 9:35am EST.
