BLOOMINGTON NATIVE IS FINALIST AT GREAT PLAINS INVITATIONAL
Bloomington, Ind. -- The Indiana University wrestling squad traveled to Lincoln, Neb., this past weekend to compete at the Great Plains Invitational. The meet featured 20 top collegiate teams from throughout the country. Indiana finished with 59.5 points, which earned the Hoosiers a 10th place finish. However, the gap between the fourth place and 10th place squads was small as Central Oklahoma finished in 4th place with 71.5 points. The University of Oregon won the team title with 122 points.
Former Bloomington North standout Pat Cassidy was 3-1 at the Invitational, including two pins. He lost in the final of the 118-pound weight class to North Carolina's Chuckie Connor, 7-0. He earned pins over Colorado School of Mines' Jeff Virdi and Columbia's Pat Macgrath.
Other Indiana placewinners were Kevin Stanley (5th), Butch Hildebrand (5th), and Jason DeVries (5th).
