October 6, 1998 HUBER NAMED DIVING COACH OF THE YEAR

Indiana diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber was named the Mike Peppe U.S.Diving National Coach of the Year this past Saturday (Oct. 2) in Cincinnati, Ohio. The award is given to an outstanding senior diving coach every year. Since 1979, only five different coaches have won the honor.

Although this is his first U.S. Diving Coach-of-the-Year award, Huber has been named Big Ten Coach-of-the-Year in 1998, 1997, and 1992. During his 11 year tenure at Nebraska, he was the Big Eight Coach-of-the-Year ten times.

This past summer Huber also was named the U.S. Diving Goodwill Games coach. His diver and Indiana graduate student, Kimiko Hirai, took 10th on the one-meter springboard.
