MEN'S WRESTLING TRAVELS TO ST. LOUIS TO START SEASON
Tournament Data: The Indiana University Wrestling team will be in action for the first time this season at the St. Louis Open in St. Louis, Missouri. The event will be held at St. Louis Community College at Forrest Park and there is no team scoring.
Teams: (28) Brigham Young, Central Michigan, Eastern Illinois, Forrest Park Wrestling Club, Indiana, Kemper Junior College, Kennedy-King, Lincoln, Lindenwood, Mankato State, Marquette, Missouri Valley, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Suburban, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, St. Louis Community College at Meramec, Triton, Wisconsin-Parkside, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina at Greensboro, Oklahoma, Tennessee at Chattanooga, Waubonsee Community College.
The Hoosiers: Coach Duane Goldman will take his entire team in hopes of getting each wrestler valuable experience for the rest of the season. Goldman said that his team is ready for the season to start. "Most of the guys are itching for competition these past few weeks," he said.
The Hoosiers will be without the services of Pat Cassidy and Mike Powell. Goldman said Cassidy has been really sick and does not know when he will be able to return. Powell is still recovering from post-concussion syndrome suffered last season and his broken wrist is still not 100%.
Despite the injuries, Goldman is confident his team will be ready. "We're
anxious to get into competition and gets things rolling," he said.
