HOOSIERS PICK UP TWO WINS AT ILLINOIS EXTRAVAGANZA

Champaign, Ill.--The Indiana Hoosiers tallied their first two victories of the season today evening their record to 2-2. In the first meet, IU defeated Illinois State 94.5-50.5. The Hoosiers took first and second in four events.
Freshman Erin Rice picked up her first win as a Hoosier. She touched for a 5:07.76 finish in the 500-yard freestyle with Amanda Noblet, and Meredith Stettner right behind for second and third place.
In the popular 100-yard individual medley, IU went first, second, third. Sophomore Jen Cristy grabbed the win with a :59.45, followed by Jen Brooks, and Becky Kamberg.
Junior Libbie McCarthy won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:08.64 and Meghan Rice followed with a 2:09.82 finish. In the 200-yard butterfly, Jennifer Watts grabbed the victory with Helena Wilhelm in second.
Other winners were Libbie Lohman in the 200-yard breast, and Sara Reiling in the one-meter diving.
The second meet today featured the Hoosiers handling the Southern Illinois Salukies 104-59. The Hoosier dominated the meet winning every event except the 400-yard free relay due to a IU disqualification.
To start the meet, McCarthy won the 400-yard IM in 4:35.08, and Watts took second. In the 100-yard free, Cristy continued her unbeaten streak touching for a winning time of 52.25.
In the fun 50s, Brooks grabbed the 50-yard back and Kamberg won the 50-yard breast. Also, Christine Jamerino grabbed her first win of the year in the 50-yard free.
Reiling continued her success in her first season as a Hoosier. She racked up the three-meter diving title.
The Hoosiers conclude the Illinois Extravanganza tomorrow. They swim
Illinois and Cincinnati in a double dual meet scheduled for 10 a.m.
