HOOSIERS HANDLE MIAMI WITH EASE 38-5
Bloomington, Ind., The Indiana University Wrestling team won its first dual meet of the season, beating Miami of Ohio 38-5 in front of 275 fans at University Gym. The Hoosiers used a pin by Brian Smiley and two technical falls from Kevin Stanley and Viktor Sveda to easily hand the Redhawks the loss.
Coach Duane Goldman was pleased with his teams effort, saying that each wrestler gave a good effort. "Our team performance was good," he said. "Even with the first match gitters, it was an overall good performance." Goldman called Miami a scrappy team and was proud of his reserves that stepped up and filled in for the injured starters. "The guys we called on to fill in where our starters couldn't did a nice job," he said. "It was a good start to our dual meet season."
The Hoosiers next travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa on Saturday, December 5, to participate in the Northern Iowa Open.
