INDIANA WOMEN COMPLETE U.S. OPEN
-- 400 Free Relay finishes third --
College Station, Texas -- The Indiana women's swimming team finished a day three with another strong showing. Sophomore Jen Cristy chalked up another top eight finish in the 100 free and the 400 free relay team finished fourth.
With a ninth place finish in the prelims, Cristy was the first alternate for the finals and moved up when a swimmer scratched. She took advantage and finished seventh in the 100 free. Earlier in the meet she was fourth in the 50 free.
In the 400 free relay, the team of Christina Iaquinto, Meghan Rice, Jen Brooks, and Cristy combined to place third with a time of 3:50.13. Just a day earlier, 400 medley relay team finished third.
Iaquinto also competed in the 100 free and finished 22nd in the bonus consolations while Rice placed 55th. In the 200 breaststroke, Becky Kamberg just missed the bonus consolations with a 26th place and Christine Jamerino finished 59th. Helena Wilhelm finished 66th in the 200 butterfly prelims.
Indiana will be back in action Jan. 16 when they host Cincinnati in a
coed meet. The meet will be at the Counsilman and Billingsley Center and
starts at 2 p.m.
