Hoosiers compete in final day of NCAA's
Minneapolis--Indiana's contingent of swimmers at the 1998 Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships saw two teammates compete on the final day of competition. Freshmen swimmer Jen Christy and diver Erin Qinn competed in the 100-yard freestyle and the platform competitions respectively today.
Christy, who swam to an 8th place finish in the 50 free on Thursday, could do no better than 35th in her qualifying session this morning. She swam a time of :50.69, less than a second off the 16th place time, but the close field kept her out of All-American contention.
Quinn, however, dove in perhaps the biggest meet of her life, and didn't come home dissapointed. The freshman dove to a score of 322.10 in the platform competition, good for a 13th place finish and honorable mention All-American honors. Quinn joins Kimiko Hirai, Jen Brooks, and Christy on the recent list of Hoosier All-American recipients.
