HOOSIERS TRAVEL TO ILLINOIS AND IOWA

BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Indiana University wrestling team will travel to Champaign, Ill., to take on the University of Illinois Fighting Illini on Friday, January 29, 1999. On Sunday, January 31, 1999, the Hoosiers will be on the road again, squaring off against the University of Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa.
Last Week: Indiana had two matches last week. On Friday January 22, 1999, the Hoosiers beat Northwestern (21-20) in Bloomington to open in the Big Ten season. On Sunday, January 24, 1999, Indiana traveled to Decatur, Ind., to take on Purdue at Bellmont High School. Purdue came out victorious by a score of 21-13. After last weekend, Indiana's overall record stands at 6-1-1 and 1-1 in the Big Ten.
The Hoosiers: Freshman Viktor Sveda (184) continues to lead the Hoosiers into battle. Sveda (21-3, 2-0) is the team leader in both wins and pins (seven). James Torres (141) isn't far behind Sveda. Torres (18-6, 1-1) has four pins and is second on the team in wins.
This Week: Illinois has compiled an 8-0 record while currently ranked #6 in the nation, including a win over Michigan at the Virginia Duals and a victory over Northwestern last week to kick-off the Big Ten season. Illinois' most impressive win of the season came back in December when they shut-out Central Missouri 42-0.
On Sunday, #3 ranked Iowa will come into the match on a high note. Last week the Hawkeyes defeated Penn State at home and snapped the Nittany Lions' 15-home match winning streak.
